I'm looking to run in the 24 Hours next year, twenty years after the last outing at Mondello. I've maintained a National A but can beginners (mature ones, that is) be entered, with which licences, or do they have to undergo some sort of circuit training first?

Chris Yates

Not sure what you mean, Frank - anyone with a Nat B licence or better can enter the 24 hour. You don't need any special training, but if it's your first time at the circuit you need to attend a 'new driver briefing' - but that's the same at any race in the UK.

If anything, you're overqualified!

Frank Barnard

Thanks Chris, I knew I was okay but it's the others! One used to race with a National B but lapsed years ago. The other two have never raced so, being slightly out of touch, I wondered if they needed to complete ARDS to qualify even for a Nat B. Or do they just apply to MSA? Thanks for your help.

Trevor Williams

If they held a national B licence within the past three years (2012, 2013, 2014) they would be able to apply for a National B licence

If they have never held a licence before, they need to do the ARDS course + medical etc
Some days, it's REALLY difficult being me!

Frank Barnard

Suspected so, Trevor, much obliged...

It would be great to see you and some mates out Frank

Nice of you Pete. My mates, at least my contemporaries, seem to be falling off their perches lately so I may be there as a driver next year, if not as a team...
