Cam out - phew!

Next stage -

Well no one said you have to split the engine to get the cam out. I was planning to leave all that to my mechanic who knows what he is doing, as opposed to me! But not so very tricky once you have found all of those bolts etc.

Before I send it off to kent can I check that the gear thing stays on the shaft? I have no idea how to get it off otherwise, so help would be very gratefully received.

Yes,the gear stays on.If it has already been ground there will be a number stamped into the oil pump end of the cam 2CVRC---.It is Boss Hoggs Army you bought isn't it?If so it was raced after the cam was introduced .

I'm afraid I haven't a clue as to much of its history. But would love to find out more, we bought it on ebay and the bloke didn't know much about it, indeed said it was a project that had never got to completion. There is, however, a scrutineering sticker on it from the 1999 24hr and the remains of another that is unreadable. So it has been raced then at least.
I'm not sure that engine has been race preped, well certainly standard old pistons in it, ill look for a number. of course it could be that engine isn't original to car.
Can you tell me any more why you think it the Hog's??
Would be very grateful for any leads.

Maybe it's not Boss hoggs then,was it the one from grantham?

Was that the car that had a blue bonnet with white stripes on it? It was on and off ebay for a bit; I have photos of that bonnet on a car at Mondello.

It was indeed the one from Grantham. The bonnet is mostly rubbed down undercoat, filler, white red. and at body shop as we speak! Think that could have been raced. the doors i doubt. all a mismatch.
The inside front has all been cut away as allowed. The base shell is all red, blue chassis, yellow front suspension arms, if any of that helps?

The roll cage seems to have had cros bars welded in but cut out at some point, why??

the engine doesnt have kent cam. so thats off tomorrow.
It does have adjustable shocks, dont know springs, very little evidence of seat fixings, although an old blue yellow opm seat came with.

Ill continue my trawl through pics to see if anything strikes a bell. but in meantime give me any leads!

ps does anyone else use the name deu deuche for their team / car??

I gave the guy at grantham the omp seat and an exhaust system,it wasn't a car i recognised when it first came up for sale .It may have had the cross bars removed to do body repairs.
I don't believe anyone in britain uses deu deuche.

Deudeuche was a team from 2007 - entered in the 24 hours as "PistonHeads II". Car 31, looked like this:



And finished a respectable 8th.

Is this car related to the 'project car' that was supposed to be built at the 24 hour race a couple of years back?

If it's that car, it may have been hired from Whitwell. In which case Mark Turner may know a lot more about it.

By the looks of the names on the door, Tim Raven and Lali Atwal were driving. They were in the WRC/Powerflex team this year.

Does anyone use adjustable seat tracks? dont need for rest of series but could do with some for 24hr as very different sized team members. Seems the recaro double locking are fia approved so will try them i reckon.

You can use transit seat sliders,the msa gave approval to one of our members some years ago.
