Many of you have probably seen the advert in the MSA magazine for the cheap, SnellSA2005 approved V2 helmets.  Just wondering if anyone has one, and are they any good? (The full-face appears on the Snell approved list, but the open-face doesn't, which is slightly concerning!).

Hi Nigel

I have a V2 Full Face Helmet new for this season, I like it, I was a little worried of just how good it would be, its light, comfy and value for money, all I had to do is get one of those MSA stickers added to it by the scruitineer.

The following was part of an MSA press release from 29th March of this year;

"The MSA would also like to draw attention to the Snell SA2000 helmet standard. Regulation K 10.3.1 of the 2010 Competitors' and Officials' Yearbook states that this standard 'May be withdrawn with effect from 01/01/11'. However, the MSA is pleased to confirm that this standard will now be valid until December 31, 2014."

I know it says 2014, but thats for Snell SA2000, so you'd imagine you should be safe for a while with SA2005.

Hope that helps.
